South Sacramento Parking and Traffic Changes
November 2008

We are expanding our Kaiser Permanente Medical Center to better meet the needs of our growing communities in South Sacramento and Elk Grove. Our expansion will add more hospital beds, expand our Emergency Room, add an outpatient surgery center, and increase parking, which will enhance our ability to provide Level II trauma care to all. We expect to open the new hospital tower in 2010.

We will do our best to minimize the impact of construction on our patients. Providing quality care and service to you is our highest priority. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to improve our campus to serve the health care needs of our growing community.

To better serve our members and guests, a new five-story, 882-parking structure will open on Monday, Nov. 24. It is located the Medical Office Buildings and Pharmacy There is no cost to park in the garage.

We will continue to provide free valet service to our members and guests at the entrance of the main Medical Office Buildings and in front of the Emergency Room. Tips are not accepted. Patients and guests may also park in Lot 2, and there is limited parking in Lot 8 for those going to the hospital, and parking by the Emergency Room. Please see below for information about valet service hours and free shuttle service.

Please note the following changes:

  • To reach the parking garage, please enter the campus from the Alta Valley Drive entrance. The road between the garage and Medical Office Building 3 will be closed until mid-December. Patients and guests will be able to access the garage from the Bruceville Road entrance starting in mid-December.
  • The area to drop off and pick up hospital patients has been moved to the entrance of the Emergency Room. This temporary change is necessary due to the construction of a new hospital tower to better serve our community. The new drop-off area is located next to a short walkway that leads to the hospital. For your convenience, we also offer free valet service and concierge service in front of the Emergency Room.
  • As part of the work to expand the Emergency Room to enhance our ability to provide trauma care, the parking lots south of the pediatric clinics and the ambulance entrance for the ER are closed.
  • Free valet parking and shuttle service are provided for patients and guests at three convenient locations during construction.
    • Main medical office building entrance, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays. Patients with special needs are encouraged to use these services.
    • Emergency Room entrance, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays. Those visiting the hospital may also use this location.
  • Shuttle service is provided from the first floor of the parking garage to the main medical office building entrance and the hospital/ER entrance throughout the day.
  • Limited parking for patients and visitors going to the hospital or Emergency Room is available on the east side of campus in Lot 8. Shuttle service is available every 5-10 minutes between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
  • The new interior road on the west side of the campus is now open.
