Healthy Eating, Active Living Grants

A Family Eating Healthy Food in the Park

Kaiser Permanente's Healthy Eating, Active Living (HEAL) initiative addresses the obesity epidemic through community partnerships. HEAL grants are available to school districts and community organizations that have developed programs to promote healthy eating and active living, including walking clubs and other programs.

Kaiser Permanente awarded $150,000, two-year grants to both the Elk Grove and Folsom Cordova unified school districts. The Elk Grove Unified School District will use its grant to further the work of the Valley Hi Youth Adult Coalition, a district-led coalition that was formed in 2006, primarily to address safety barriers that prevent youth and families from engaging in healthy outdoor activities in the Valley Hi community of south Sacramento. The district received a $60,000 grant for the coalition in 2007.
